How come we tell women not to go outside at night, in case they’re raped?
Wouldn’t it make more sense to tell men not to rape?
Think about it.
I mean, we don’t tell people not to go outside in case they’re murdered.
We tell people not to kill.
However… we do tell people not to carry expensive things… not to show off expensive gadgets.
Because if they’re robbed, we consider it their fault, for showing that they have something desireable to steal.
Why, then, is rape seen as more like theft than assault?
Because a woman’s body is seen as a commodity to sell.
Even today, the idea persists, that a woman is not a human that can get attacked, but a belonging that can be stolen.
How fucked up is that?
This is a rather simple concept. And by “rather simple concept” I mean a “extremely fucking simple concept.” Telling men not to rape is useless. Awful people who want to rape women will not refrain from doing so because they’ve been *~educated~* about the error of their ways.
THANK YOU.
We don’t teach “do not rape”, we teach “be fucking careful”.
